This year for our annual International Women’s Day Luncheon, our Women’s Committee invited Kirsten Webb from the United Way to speak about the Period Promise campaign. More information about the campaign can be found on their website Period Promise-United Way Halton and Hamilton.
Our Local signed on to support this campaign at our Luncheon and 1,200 pads and 564 tampons were donated by luncheon attendees. In addition, $361 was raised through donations and raffle tickets, and combined with a $500 donation by our Women’s Committee brings the days total to $861.
Our Local will be collecting donations on an ongoing basis. More information about the Period Promise campaign, and how our Local will be supporting it will be on the Women’s Committee web page shortly.
