Members,
Your Women’s Committee is hosting an event on International Women’s Day open to all Unifor Local 5555 members and members of Hamilton Unifor Locals. This event is at our Union Hall, 86 Hester St., Hamilton, on March 8, 2026 from 10am to 2pm. Feel free to drop in at your convenience. Light refreshments will be provided (snacks and beverages). We will have an assortment of crafting tables, with some Committee members sharing their personal creative outlets with participants. It is a family friendly event for folks of all ages.
The event theme is “Craftivism – The Labour of our Hands,” recognizing the creative modes of resistance women have practiced for centuries. From the Industrial Revolution to the Suffragette movement to the Women’s March on Washington in 2017, women have been organizing, stitching, and resisting using the labour of their hands.
We are also thrilled to host special guests from the Workers’ Arts and Heritage Centre. For more information about the WAHC please visit their website: https://wahc-museum.ca/
Parking is limited on site, but there is plenty of street parking in the neighbourhood as an alternative.
This event is free, but please consider donating new and unopened menstrual hygiene products. The Committee will distribute these products to community organizations in need. For each package of menstrual products you donate, you will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of several door prizes. We will draw the door prizes toward the end of the event (around 1:40 p.m.) to give everyone a chance to enter. You do not have to be present at the event to claim your prize.
